McGuire and Hester worked extensively with the City of Oakland during the preconstruction phase of this project to assist with value engineering. The project had to be completed on a very tight budget, having been funded almost entirely through grants and donations. McGuire and Hester was contracted to construct a new artificial turf football and soccer field and a new natural turf baseball field – all with bleachers and lighting. We installed extensive site fencing that included tall fencing to enclose the baseball and football fields. We re-graded and installed sod for a second soccer field and installed additional site lighting throughout the park. Additional project features included a new children’s play area with a play structure, remodeling of an existing bathroom facility with lockers and showers, decorative concrete walkways, and landscaping with new trees and shrubs.
