Loma Prieta Track and Field

McGuire and Hester served as the prime contractor for Loma Prieta Joint Union School District’s Track & Field Improvements in Los Gatos, delivering approximately 160,000 square feet of athletic and recreational upgrades as part of the District’s broader campus master plan. The project included playfield preparation, new sod and irrigation, a protective mesh system designed to prevent gopher damage, and construction of a modern six-lane, double-bend running track. We helped create renewed hardscape and landscape play areas designed to support students, families, and the campus for years to come.

Building Better Spaces for Students

The Loma Prieta Track & Field project represented Increment 2 of the District’s comprehensive master plan to enhance its campus environment for future generations. McGuire and Hester’s work focused on improving both the performance and long-term functionality of the school’s outdoor athletic spaces.

Within the playfield, the team removed existing topsoil and prepared the area for new sod, supported by a new irrigation system to maintain the field. A protective mesh system was incorporated beneath the improved play surface to help prevent future damage from gophers, addressing a practical maintenance concern while protecting the District’s investment. The project also delivered a new six-lane, double-bend running track, expanding the campus’s athletic infrastructure and complementing the renovated playfield. Together, the improvements optimize the use of the school’s hardscape and landscaped recreation areas while advancing the District’s larger vision for a functional, durable campus environment that supports students and their families.
